Feeling a bit burnt out after years in a high-pressure ER environment. Thought maybe switching units would help, but it didn’t. Lately, travel nursing seems like an escape that could also lead to growth. Never done anything like it, though, and don’t want to walk in blind. How do you find reliable agencies? And do you actually get to choose where you go, or is it more limited than it seems?
Started travel nursing during the pandemic when staff jobs were chaotic and unsustainable. It gave me the control I needed back in my life. There are agencies out there that truly advocate for nurses, like TLC travel nurses. They’ve got a search tool to explore jobs by location and specialty, which was huge for me when I was trying to get closer to family out of state. Contracts are usually 13 weeks, and you do get a say in where you go—it’s not just random placements. Definitely worth looking into if you want a change of pace with solid pay.
This thread hits close to home. Been thinking about alternatives to full-time hospital work, especially ones that let you move around. Appreciate the open sharing here—it’s motivating to hear what’s possible outside the usual grind.
