Ground terminal and wire getting very hot with parallel connection

  • I'm trying to put two Eco Worthy 150Ah batteries in parallel, but the ground wire keeps getting too hot to the touch.  Wondering how I should proceed.

  • Disconnect the Batteries: Immediately disconnect the batteries to prevent damage or potential fire hazards.

Check Wire Gauge: Ensure that the ground wire gauge is appropriate for the current load. For a 150Ah battery, you typically need at least 4 AWG wire, but depending on the length of the slope run, you may need a thicker wire (like 2 AWG).

  • Your connections don't look tight. Also make sure the wire lugs mate together properly. Check how the lug sits on the battery terminal it must be flat contacting the entire surface. Positive parallel cable is upside down maybe flip it over and move to the top of the other cable.
